CARLEY, BARNES, GAVIN
- Doddington
I am searching for any information on the marriage(s) of Mary GAVIN(S) my great aunt
Mary, one of a twin, was born 11/08/1887 in Doddington Cambs. She was one of 14 children of Rhodes GAVIN & Sarah FISHER.
On the 1901 census she was listed as age 13, living in Doddington and an Agricultural worker.
My mother, now dead, said that she thought Mary had married
i) ? BARNES and a son Alfred was born
ii) Edward CARLEY and a daughter May was born and that they lived in March.
May has since died and a death certificate of a (unknown to the family) man has been found relating to Mary's time.
If anyone has acceess to March Parish records or can throw any light on Mary's marriages I would be very grateful.
I have quite a bit of information on the GAVINS & FISHERS prior to 1901.

CLEMENTS, Charles - birth surname BYE
- Dullingham
I've recently been told that my great grandfather Charles CLEMENTS, born about 1832, on applying for his five-shillings-a-week state pension had to obtain a Birth Certificate to prove his age. It is said that he then discovered he was a foundling, and that his surname at birth was in actually BYE. I suppose one or both of his adoptive "parents" may have still been alive, and gave him the information that enabled him to obtain his Birth Certificate.
If anyone has any information linking BYE's with CLEMENTS, presumably in the Dullingham area, please get in touch!
