Have a great deal of information on the family of John & Sarah JEFFERY/JEFFREY of Wood Ditton, Camb. Their children were William, Emily, Mark, Luke, Tamar & John(births 1819 - 1835). Mark and Luke were sent to Australia as convicts following a burglary on a Farm in 1848. Mark was sent to Tasmania (Van Dieman's Land), while Luke was sent to Western Australia where he met and had children with my great grand aunt Elizabeth EACOTT.

My family of Tweeds lived in Cheveley for generations. John Tweed (1688-1763) married Elizabeth DEARE. Their son Thomas Tweed (1760-1841) married Mary PRICE in 1779. Their son also Thomas Tweed married Hannah FITCH in 1804. Finally their daughtyer Mary Ann Tweed married William FRANKS in Wood Ditton and thereafter lived her life out there. Would like to hear from anyone connected with any of these families.

I have first discovered Robert Freeman and his wife Mary (maiden name unknown) baptising children in Wood Ditton between 1663 and 1682. They lived their lives out and were buried here. I am seeking their baptisms and marriage. Their eldest daughter Mary (1663-1713) married at Chevely to Henry Deare then lived and died in Wood Ditton, baptising 6 children including my ancestor Elizabeth Deare (later Tweed)(1699-?).

John Pratt and Mary Arnull were married 5th February 1767 in Woodditton by licence. Mary was 17 years old at this time.She was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Arnull.
Mother Mary Arnull Snr was widowed in February 1762 she then married John Watson June 1762. They had a child called Anne. I have no knowledge of any other children. Has anyone any connections please.

p 168 Debtors - The conduct of the debtors, according to the
statements of the officers, is of a very indifferent character,
and completely destructive of the necessary discipline of a prison.
Drunkenness, by the introduction of spirits clandestinely, and
quarrelling and fighting take placeamong them, and communication
with the other prisoners is acrried on to a very considerable
extent. The height of the wall which separates them from one of
the criminals' yards is only 11 feet. The principal turnkey statesthat tobacco, provisions, and other articles, are thrown over by
the debtors to the criminals; and it has been ascertained that
persons have feigned acquaintance with the debtors, in order to
have the opportunity of communicating with the criminals.
They are allowed to receive visitors in any number, from ten until
four in winter and from ten until seven in summer.

I am trying to find relations and descendants of CHRISTOPHER HAWKES. His profession was Agricultural Labourer, do not know what his parent's names were.
William was born c1807 his wife's name was LYDIA, I do not have her maiden name.
They had the following children: Mary Tabraham Hawkes, Sarah, Eliza, Susanna and Emma.
The family left Liverpool 4.10.1852 for South Australia.

I am searching for info on John Simpkin and Sarah Ling who lived in Fordham, Cambs. They had William(1839), Maryann(1840) Robert(1842) Eliza(1844) and Susan(1846). Sarah was originally from Little Saxham,Suffolk.(Parents William Ling & Sarah Simpkin)and was first married to John Curtis. They had 2 daughters who died as babies, and Charles Curtis(1831) all born in Bottisham. I have been unable to find much info on John Simpkin. Any help would be appreciated.

John married Elizabeth Galltrop. Their son William Rowell was born 1767 in Stretham and married Elizabeth Day .Their son William Rowell was born in 1803at Stretham and married Ann Bull from Waterbeach. Their son Levitt Colin Rowell was born in 1839 and married Jane Murfitt. My husband is a descendant of Levitt's son William born 1862. William married Charlotte and had six boys, Albert, William, Edward, George, Stanley and Horace. Albert Colin Rowell was born in 1890 in Croydon and immigrated to Australia with his English wife (Alice Kezia Branch) in 1913.If you are related or can help me please contact me.

I found an old purse in a charity shop in the grafton centre in Cambridge, Cambs. It contains several old photos and notes and I can only imagine
that the elderly lady who owned it has passed away and the purse has
been discarded by mistake. amongst the photos are:
