Brown family of Whittlesey
- Whittlesey
I am hoping to find more information about my gt.gt.grandfather Thomas Wilson Brown born in Whittlesey. His age at death in 1872 was 55 which would put his year of birth at 1816/17. He was married married in London to Ann Hawes from Norfolk in 1845 and the cert. showes his father was also called Thomas. He had four children Thomas, Sarah Ann (my gt.grandmother) Charles & Maria. Apart from Sarah who died in the 1930's the 1871 census was the last trace I had of the rest of the family. Thomas & Ann were living apart and Charles 21 & Maria 17 were living with Ann. I have been unable to trace any positive marriages or deaths and would love to know what became of this family as well as Thomas Wilson's life before he arrived in London.

ROWLISON - Wicken
Richard ROWLISON was born in Wicken c 1828. His parents were John Rowlison and Elizabeth SHAW. Richard was fighting with his brother when his mother was knocked down. Richard aged around 16, then ran away and joined the 11th Devonshire Regiment of Foot using the alias John Rowlison Elmer He sailed with this Infantry to Australia c 1837. Richard was a convict guard on both Norfolk and Cockatoo Islands in Australia. He married Anne Elizabeth Moore in Sydney. Richard was with the 11th Devonshire Regiment when they opened up Victoria Barracks in Sydney where by this time he was a sergeant. He still used his alias on official records for the birth of all his children, but appears to have dropped it when the eldest child married and reverted back to Richard Rowlison. They had Mary, married Edward ABRA, Rebecca married William BOWDEN, Richard SHAW ROWLISON, and William SHAW ROWLISON, another son died. The family lived in the ATTUNGA district of NSW Richard died in Tamworth in 1882, and Anne died at Manilla near Tamworth in 1909. Would love to hear from any who knows anything about the Rowlison or Shaw families. I believe an uncle Rowlison had the Black Horse Innn at Wicken. The name may have been spelt Rawlinson, or Rowlinson.
