4 children from the Stubbs Family born in Blandford Dorsetshire were moved here, into a New Market Workhouse, and recorded in the 1901 census. They were Florence 4, Mabel 5, Arthur John 7, and Emily Stubbs 8. They left behind George (17) William (4) and Violet (3) Their mother was Julia Stubbs(Foot) a charwoman (B.1863 Father John Foot), And their father was John Stubbs(B.1859) A groom (non domestic) Their grandfather was Joseph Stubbs.Spalding Doncaster.. Any information as to what happened to these children would be greatfully appreciated. Were they moved by the government under the care of Governors Governesses? Adopted? Or unfortunately sent abroad to work in Canada, New Zealand, Australia?

Gordon Williams - Newmarket
Gordon was born in Pontefract in 1925. In about 1940 he went to Newmarket to work as a stable lad at a racing stable and later became head lad. He died in Bury St Edmonds in 1996. He is later found to be in Australia married to a widow Agnes Lyons who first husband Ernest Lyons died about 1901. Agnes was turned away with her son William John from her husbands home who were in the horse breeding world.She later married Herbert George Arnull in 1906. I am researching the Tarrant family who lived Cheveley Road for many years. Parents Thomas R and Sarah J (nee Lee). children born Cambridge,Charlotte E, Thomas R, Ethel May,Alice, Violet, Jessie E, Dorothy, Bertha and Catherine born Newmarket. Where is Alice Morey 1847 - Newmarket
Susannah Arnull is listed on the 1861 Census Living with her in Newmarket is her daughter Louisa Morey with her two daughters Alice and Maria. It is known that Maria married into the Davies family in Newmarket,but no record is known of Alice Morey. I did find a record of an Alice Morey said to be 24 living in Manchester. But it states she was born in Manchester where as I know the Alice Morey was born in London Middlesex. If anyone can shed any light on this lady please get in touch.

I have an Amelia Arnull 1795 and a Nancy Arnull 1799 Harriet Arnull 1794 in my family tree. They were the sisters of Samuel James Arnull 1792-1841 Juliana 1793 Sophia 1797 and Thomas 1800-1841 Although the last three mentioned are in the Will of Samuel Arnull the other four are not.I do know Harriet married a Edward Theakson but what happened to Amelia and Nancy is a mystery. They were married in Newmarket Suffolk Charles and Ann had two known children Charles christened 27 11 1783 and Anne christened 22 Oct 1784.Both born in Newmarket. Charles Marson is listed as a trainer of horses in Newmarket in the register dated 1839. On the 1861 Census there is listed a Julia A Marson, Neice age 10 to Sophia Goodhugh(nee Arnull) widow of Richard Goodhugh,I haven't been able to find any connection between the Charles Marson and Julia Marson. Does anyone have any idea if there is a connection please.

Florence Louisa/e King was born in Newmarket in December 1893 She was known as King or Arncliffe ,as her father changed his name at some point,from one to the other and visa versa I understand.He was known in the Racing world as Charles Arncliff. Florence's mother was Louisa/e Arnull.I need to know if this is the same person. Florence Louise Arncliffe is listed as a servant in 1911 at Moat House Soham Cambs. Does anyone know if this is the same person, As the one born as Florence Louisa King £b 515 in BMD Fingers crossed.

For the benefit of others who are unaware of changes in the following names. On the 1891 Census for Newmarket you will find T W Arncliffe Head 30 Turf Accountant. his wife L Arncliffe 28 and *Charles King Boarder. 25 Clerk. (I am not sure of who these Arncliffes are.) Census 1901. *Charles King has changed his name to Arncliffe and is married to my grandmothers sister Louisa (nee Arnull) with daughter Florence Louisa and son William Charles plus a boarder Alfred King.Widower 63.This could be Charles father but I havent found out yet. Census 1911 We have Charles E King (the E stands for Emanuel)44 his wife Louisa 37 who was born in Newmarket,son William Charles is 14 born Newmarket. The family moved to London after this. Meanwhile his brother on the 1901 Census is listed as Harry Arncliffe 29 with his wife Sarah Elizabeth (nee Williams)28 and son Alfred Harry Arncliffe.6 1911 they are listed as Frederick Harry King 39 Sarah Elizabeth King 38 Alfred Harry King 16 living at 4 Rose Cottage Lisburn Road. Charles Emanuel King passed away October 15th 1917 age 52 Interred in Paddington Cemetery according to the memorial card I have.The family were living in Paddington area at that time. An Obituary for my Great Grandfather says that Mrs King the widow of the well known Turf Accountant Charles Arncliffe who died recently was present at Gt Grandads funeral on October 24th 1917.Also mentioned is Charles Arncliffe's nephew killed in action. Alfred Harry King Lance Corporal 721170 2/24th Queens M.G. Section London Regiment Killed in action in Palestine Oct 31 1917 Age 22,his parents were living at Stamford Street Newmarket at that time. War Dead Grave /Memorial Ref J.7. Cemetery BEERSHEBA WAR. I have no record for William Charles King (Arncliffe) perhaps anyone knows anything about this man they will let me know. Thank you

William C King married possibly one of named ladies between 1916 and 1925. I have looked these names up on B.M.D. I am anxious to know what happened to William Charles King . John Moule b.c1830 was the son of John Moule who may have died in 1853. John jnr was born in the parish of St Mary the Less and became a printer.I cannot trace either John on the 1841 census but have found John jnr on the 1851 where he is a boarder with a family still in Cambs.

I am researching my great grandfather Isaac Rose born in 1862 in Newton ( d 1955 ). He married Margaret Patten and had 9 children my Grandfather ( Albert) being the youngest born March 1901. I have potentially found Margaret's parents / relatives in Tydd St Giles in the 1881 census as publicans - Robert W Patten, his wife Margaret and mother Eliza - my mother thought she (remembered a link to a publican).
