Bachelor's Hall Farm
- Kirtling
Looking for information on Bchelor's Hall Farm in Kirtling from 1870's. The Claydon family lived here from sometime to prior to the 1881 census. In 1881 Thomas and Mary (nee Rowlinson) lived with their family at Bachelor's Hall. They had married in Withersfield around 1848 and then lived at Burrough Green in Cambridge where most of their 18 children were born. The youngest of their children, Florence Bertha, was born in Kirtling in 1874. My great-grandfather, William was their oldest son and he was born in Withersfield and as far as I know never lived at Bachelor's Hall having moved to work in London as a horse-tram driver in the 1860's. The Claydon family continued to live at Bachelor's Hall until Thomas died and his wife Mary took over the farm. One of Thomas' sons Joshua and his daughter, another Mary were still living at home with their mother during the 1891 census. If anyone has any information or photos of Bachelor's Hall Farm at this time or any information about any of the Claydon family I would love to hear from you.

Scrimshaws
- Leverington
I have traced my ancestry back to the village of Leverington and would welcome contact from any others with information on this family - of particular interest is a William Scrimshaw born about 1838, who on his marriage certificate gives his father as John Scrimshaw (a farmer), and its possible he is the William found in the 1841 census aged 3 living with a lady called Eliz Scrimshaw (aged about 20 - school teacher) and a Harriet Scrimshaw aged 4 and a Sarah Jane Scrimshaw aged 12. In 1851, I believe this William is living with George & Charlotte Scrimshaw and is given as their nephew - and remains with them in the 1861 census and then he marries Sarah Ann Merrikin and in 1871 census is in Clenchwarton area and then from 1881 census he is living in Gedney, Lincolnshire.
