Susannah KING bapt 27 Feb. 1757 Haverhill, dau. of George KING & Elizabeth nee PURKIS married 4 Nov. 1779 Robert ADCOCK of Linton and West Wickham. Susannah died in 1823 and there is a PCC will. I descend from Susannah's brother, William of Haverhill, who married Hannah WAKELING. through their daughter Mary Ann.William & Hannah had a daughter Caoline KING bapt. at Linton 25 Oct. 1810, buried at West Wratting, "of Linton" 21 Mar. 1814. William KING had died the previous year, and in her widowhood Hannah kept a school ( of which we have a photograph), at Linton The house was still standing in 1998. KJI

John ADCOCK, the 3rd child of Susannah (nee KING) and Robert ADCOCK was bapt. 17 Oct. 1784 at Linton, and married at Linton 11 Jan. 1825 Susanna HART who had been b 27 Feb. 1797 and died 4 Mar. 1878, being bur. at Linton. Their eldest was a dau. Susanna/Anna ADCOCK b. 28 Feb. 1825. She was an assistant to her younger sister Louisa ADCOCK in the Ladies Boarding School she operated in Linton. Louisa was the 2nd child and born 15 April 1830. Both sisters are believed to have been spinsters. Robert ADCOCK born 28 Nov. 1835 was the 3rd child. He is believed to have had a son, Robert ADCOCK who lived at Hildersheim, Bracondale, Norwich.He is believed to have been a conmmercial traveller for Colman Mustard & Starch in the 1881 Census. The 4th child was John King ADCOCK, b. 2 June 1841 and buried 30 April 1842. KJI

Their 6th child was Priscilla Mary ADCOCK born 23 Sept. 1794, bapt. 22 Apr. 1795 at Linton, married William BURROWS of Saffron Walden, brewer on 9 Sept. 1828 in London. Their children were Elizabeth Weston BURROWS, George King BURROWS Priscilla BURROWS and Algernon BURROWS. KJI

Barnabus WEBB, 1760-1846, Diarist of the Haverhill area.) Their children were:- Harriet MARTIN, Frances Elizabeth MARTIN, Mary Ann MARTIN, Mary Ann MARTIN, Henrietta MARTIN, Henry John MARTIN. All received bequest in their Aunt Susannah ADCOCK's Will, 1868 Archdeaconry Court of Sudbury Ref. 6.534

He was a Widower aged 68, a farmer, in the 1851 Census, nd died 1854 at Saffron Walden. He had 3 known daughters:-Harriet ADCOCK married Thomas GREEN, Grocer; Emma married 11 July 1838 Richard SQUIRE of Nosterfield End, (..."in high style at the Quaker Meeting House. There were 6 or 8 carriages..." Barnabus WEBB 1760-1846, the Diarist of the Haverhill area";) Priscilla ADCOCK married ...HOLME. All 3 received bequests from their Aunts Susannah ADCOCK d. 1868 Will (Archdeaconry Court of Sudbury Ref. 6.534 & Elizabeth WESTON nee ADCOCK, no issue.Will proved 1866.KJI

My GG Grandmother Julia Norden was born in LINTON in 1864. Her father Christopher was the son of Richard Norden (1807), a blacksmith in the village.
His father William (1780) married Mary LOFTS (1776). Her parents were William Lofts and Ann PILGRIM (1752).
The names Norden/Lofts and Pilgrim often appear in Linton. Does anyone have any information about any of these families?

My g-gm was Selina Willmott born Nov 1851. Marriage registration (in Michigan, US) lists Cambridgeshire as birthplace. 1861 Census lists her as daughter of Jonathan & Emma (nee Howard)Willmott. She emmigrated to US about 1870. Note says sister was Annie Jarman. Looking for any info on these families.

William Angell was born c. 1823 son of William and Sarah in Haslingfield. He married Isabel McGhee Jan - Mar 1844 in the Caxton Registration area (Volume 14, page 37). In 1851 he was living in Great Eversden with wife and children, Henry Edwin (6), William Thomas (4) and Mary (1). He was a farmer with 97 acres and employed 4 labourers. He does not appear on the 1861 census for Great Eversden.

She was born in Sporle, Norfolk, daughter of Thomas & Bridget Chilvers. She had an illigitimate daughter Harriet Chilvers (or Ponder) born c1852. She had several children by Edward Creek after their marriage. Related by marriage to above submitter.

Looking for connections to Ralph Hinkin born Little Thetford, Haddenham, Cambridgeshire on the 4 September 1848. Mother listed on birth record as Mary Hinkin, but no father is listed. The 1851 census has Ralph Hinkin aged 2 in Speed Lane, (Little) Thetford, Soham with mother Mary Hinkin (formerly a servant born Little Thetford) aged 37 but still no father. By the 1871 census Ralph Hinkin is a visitor with William and Mary Cross in Ely and by 1881 a packer lodging at 6 Bay Street, Hackney. Ralph Hinkin married Jessie Anderson on 8 October 1882 with his father listed as William Hinkin (a Gentleman). By 1901 Ralph and Jessie Hinkin are at 28 Vallentin Road, Walthamstow with four children, one of which was my grandmother, Jessie Henrietta Hinkin (1887-1938).

Edwin Ernest WILLIS b. 1870 in Gravesend, Kent, England was a doctor in
Littleport, Cambridgshire.
The 1900 Kelly's Directory for Cambridgeshire lists him as the Certifying
Factory Surgeon, as well as the Medical Officer & Public Vaccinator forthe
Littleport area.
He was married to Ada DEAN b. 1871 in Rainham, Essex, but in 1881 living in Erith & later Gravesend. Edwin & Ada had at
least one son, Dean E, born in Littleport in 1900.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have any knowledge of this
family.
