Fredrick & William Porter
- Hildersham
My father Fredrick & brother William (twin brothers) were baptised in Hildersham Cambs Church in 1919, no parents names were listed. Their DOB was 21.07.1903.This is coincidently the year my father joined the army. Just to confuse matters the same document records him as living with guardians in Hildersham! There are no Porter headstones @ Little & Great Abington Churchyards. (the two other local churches). I have asked around the village but nobody remembers the Porter surname. My fathers army papers state that he went to a Cambridge school but other than that I have no further info. Both my father & uncle have now passed away now & I am trying to trace their parentage or in the case of William his siblings.
Any inputs/ideas very welcome.

UPDATE PART OF THE MYSTERY SOLVED.
Having now traced Williams' two sons (10 months work ) I have now discovered that my father & his twin were left @ the workhouse in the Hildersham area & then "taken in " by a local Sheppard who was also the local slaughterer by the name of HENDERSON. His daughter thought to be ETHEL married into a farming family by the name of FAIREY. Does anybody know of any history of these two families? I can not find any HENDERSON...

Diver families of Cambridgeshire especially Isleham area
- Isleham
The Diver families of Cambridgeshire are of great interest to me. Especially the family of John Diver b. abt. 1802 in Thetford-Fakenham, Norfolk, England and his wife, Rebecca Gates b. abt. 1801 in Hempton, Norfolk, England. Their children: Charlotte b. 1820, Elizabeth b. 1822, John b. 1824, Joseph b. 1828, Rebecca b. 1830, Martha b. 1836, and Benjamin b. abt. 1839 were all born in Isleham. I believe their son, John Diver b. the 1st of August, 1824 in Isleham is my great great grandfather, John D. Dever. I think he changed his name after entering the US in 1851. Also, I think that James Diver married to Mary Tabraham (I believe she was previously married and had a son, Henry Tabraham.) is the son of John Diver and Sarah Fincham.
