Miles, Chichester-Miles?, Ridley, Howison
- Wolverton
MILES, CHICHESTER-MILES. This has been the family name since about 1893, when my Great Grandfather (John Herbert Emmanuel) married my Great Grandmother, (Louise Sarah Wright) in Bedford. England. I Believe John Herbert Emmanuel Chichester-Miles was born in York in 1869 and registered as John Herbert Miles. His Father was John Miles Born In March, Cambridgeshire, England, and he had married Joan Ridley from, Westmoreland, but I have never found a Marriage Certificate. John Herbert moved from York to Wolverton in Buckinghamshire and then to Leicester where he was in 1901. ANY INFORMATION WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED. My research to find where the Chichester-Miles name came from and why has been ongoing for more than 25 years.

Miles Family/Paper making/ Glory Mill ?
- Wooburn
I believe I found the IGI record for my ggg grandfather David Miles christening. Birth date given as 6 oct 1817 and christening 17 Nov 1817. Parents named as Thomas Miles and Jane. Bethel Chapel Cores End Independant, Wooburn, Buckingham England. Anyone have any connection to Miles family in this area. I believe they were all employed in the papermaking industry. Possibly at the old Glory Mill which I think was situated in Wooburn. On David's marriage certificate both his father Thomas and the brides father have the occupation "paper maker". In 1841 on the census the bride Mary, is a rag cutter, rags being part of the paper making process I have subsequently learnt.
