Hooffstter
- Slough
My paternal great grandparents were John Clark(b.1847) & Fanny Poynter (b.1848ish). Fannys' fathers' name was Robert Hooffstter Poynter(from marriage cert). I would like to find out whether Hooffstter was his mothers maiden name as is often the case. My paternal grandfather was named Charles Poynter Clark, the Poynter taken from his mothers maiden name, so you get the picture. There aren't many Hooffstters around.

Williams-Craven, Slough area
- Slough
Am looking to trace part of my family who moved from Wisbech to Slough. My paternal grandparents (Cliff and Ethel (nee Holdsworth) Craven) were originally from the Leeds area but moved to East Anglia. They had married & settled in Wisbech (Cambs) by 1923.
Their son (my father) Edward, was born in 1932 - his eldest sister Elizabeth was probably born about 1924. They had a sister Peggy born 1926.
Elizabeth was known as Betty; she married Clifford Williams and they settled in Slough in the 1950's after he left the RAF. Betty has since died (her own son - also an Edward - died relatively young in an accident).
Betty also had a daughter Maragaret - I am looking to trace her -I have no idea of her married name or whether she has another sibling. She may have lived in Cippenham at one time. I would like to contact my cousin Margaret in order to meet her for the first time and to share and progress the Craven family tree with her.

edwards/gibbard family
- Steeple Claydon
I am researching my mother's family tree. She was an Edwards born in 1918 - her mother's parents were Authur (born Burghclere, Hants 1858) and Louisa (born Burghclere, Hants 13/01/1856) and they must have been living in Hants at the start of their marriage as their first 2 children, George (b 1881) and Gertrude (b 1887) were born in Burghclere and Newtown. The Pearce family moved to Crowthorne, Berks where 4 more children were born - Frederick and Arthur were both killed in WW1, Rosaline and Sidney. My maternal grandmother was Gertrude but I would like more information on George and Sidney. Rosaline married Maurice Dixon but died with no issue. My grandmother married William Edwards in Crowthorne in 1914. At the time of the wedding William's father was already dead. William was one of 7 children - 2 boys & 5 girls - his mother remarried an H Gibbard and the family lived in Steeple Claydon, Bucks for 40 years before her death. She had another 8 children - 2 boys & 6 girls from this marriage, and her funeral report says that she had 46 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren when she died aged 76. There is a Jesse Gibbard and his wife Martha Ellen buried in the churchyard at Steeple Claydon. I am guessing these are the same family....

William Hedges
- Stewkley
Looking for info on William Hedges or any Hedges that had a daughter named Dorothy who came to Canada apparently after the death of her father.
The family was apparently wealthy and lost everything when the father died.
A silver Ice water pitcher still in the family seems to at least confirm the wealth of the family at one time.
Dorothy had a brother named Royal Alexander b. in 1902 in England.
Some of the family may have remained in England.
Dorothy m. Walter Bispham in Canada.
