Elizabeth Gibbard
- Padbury
I am trying to trace the Elizabeth Gibbard who married Robert Gardner in Deddington in 1816 I have now discovered there are two Elizabeth Gibbard's,one who was born in 1792, and another born in 1794. In fact they are second cousins, both living in Padbury. The original is descended from John Gibbard (b. 1714) via John, then William; and the new Elizabeth is also descended from the same John, via Charles, then another William. This means that it will be nigh impossible to distinguish between them for the purposes of identifying any connection to Jane's Gardners mother Elizabeth, although the common ancestry of the two cousins means that we arrive at their great-grandfather John either way. However, there is one possibility which might settle the matter - if either (or both) of the cousins did not survive into adulthood then they would be eliminated from the chance of being our Elizabeth. My information just gives their birth details, with no marriages attached. Many of the other entries of this family group do have marriage details included, so it might well be that if the Padbury Burial Registers were consulted they might confirm the issue - as long as the cousins were still domiciled in Padbury..... any one have any information on this please?
