I'm trying to trace the ancestors of Mary Hind who married James Bradley 06/10/1791 at Cookham Berkshire. I believe her parents were John Hind and Sarah but I can find no trace of them for Cookham. Most of the Hinds seem to be from the north of England. James and Mary had 10 children and I'm descended through child 3 Richard Bradley.

Sarah was 60 years in 1881 and unmarried, and was born in Staffordshire and returned 'home' for burial. Would like to know where The Woodlands in Cookham can be found also, even if knocked down now. White Place Farm, Cookham - Cookham
I am wanting to know who owned this property on Sutton Rd between Cookham and Maidenhead, in the 1880's.It backs onto the River Thames and directly behind it is "Cliveden". The Astors owned it from 1908 -1950. The Duke of Sutherland owned Cliveden before the Astors but did he also own White Place Farm and other land around CLiveden? Walter Worth was Farm bailiff here at the time of the 1881 Census.

The Pinkeny family (various spellings) held a number of manors in and around Cookham between 1086 and 1430, the last member that I have managed to trace so far was an Arnold de Pinckney and his sister Joan (1430) Joan married a member of the de Whitehead family and in due course I believe she inherited her brothers holdings. My great grandfather William W Ireland was born in Kingswinford, Staffordshire C1853. He married a Harriet Savin who was born C1850 in Cookham, Berkshire. I believe the marriage took place during Oct/Nov/Dec 1878, in Fulham, London. I believe they had at least one child (possibly 4), who was my grandfather John Ireland who was born in Cookham C1880 & married a Jessie Kennett. Henry William Alabaster West ( West Alabaster) with his Common Law wife Elizabeth Ann Coster ( nee Lee) Henry was the baker at 5 Queens Street until returning to London in 1890. My Grandfather Stephen Arthur Higgs was born in Hambleden between 1885-1888. Before the war he worked as a teamster on a farm, and after the war he worked in insurance and lived in Cookham Dean. I am researching my mother's family tree. She was an Edwards born in 1918 - her mother's parents were Authur (born Burghclere, Hants 1858) and Louisa (born Burghclere, Hants 13/01/1856) and they must have been living in Hants at the start of their marriage as their first 2 children, George (b 1881) and Gertrude (b 1887) were born in Burghclere and Newtown. The Pearce family moved to Crowthorne, Berks where 4 more children were born - Frederick and Arthur were both killed in WW1, Rosaline and Sidney. My maternal grandmother was Gertrude but I would like more information on George and Sidney. Rosaline married Maurice Dixon but died with no issue. My grandmother married William Edwards in Crowthorne in 1914. At the time of the wedding William's father was already dead. William was one of 7 children - 2 boys & 5 girls - his mother remarried an H Gibbard and the family lived in Steeple Claydon, Bucks for 40 years before her death. She had another 8 children - 2 boys & 6 girls from this marriage, and her funeral report says that she had 46 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren when she died aged 76. There is a Jesse Gibbard and his wife Martha Ellen buried in the churchyard at Steeple Claydon. I am guessing these are the sam...

Whitley, Janeb1840 d1846, John b1844 - lived to at least 17, Martha b1847 d1870, also Henry b1838 Lower Whitley. Henry b1838 Lower Witley married Elizabeth nee Cork b1839 d1924 in 1861. Elizabeth buried in Cumnor churchyard. Children born in Tubney were Reubenb1865 d 1867 Jane b1867, Jack b1869, Emma b1871, Joseph b1873 d1873 buried in Cumnor, Martha b1875 in Childswell, Benjamin b1878 in Boarshill, Elizabeth b1879/80 in Bradley d1957 buried in Cumnor. Also Peter b1863 at North Hinksey d1931. Peter married Louisa b1871 at Chipping Norton d1905. Emma married John Hawkes b1871 at Middleton Cheney, Northants. Peter and Louisa had five children, looking for descendants of Elizabeth Mary Alice b 1898, moved to Leicester and for Emily b1902 moved to Cumnor 1905. Emma and John had around 10 children including Herbert, Ruby, Jack, Ernest, Alfred.
