1901 Bracknell College was a small boarding school run by James L LEES and his wife Sophia P LEES, located next to the vicarage in Bracknell. Seven boarders ranging from 8-15 years. Two teachers, James LEES and Edwin STRECTER. Two other staff employed. Seeking information about this school. There is a Frith image available. My grandfather Carl C SCHULZ was the 8 year old. His mother Emily K SCHULZ (nee NEWMAN, born at sea off the coast of South Africa) was a live-in staff member bringing up her son after a brief marriage to a Prussian soldier in Germany. A daughter, Kathe M SCHULZ (born Germany, British subject)was recorded elsewhere (London) on census night. The family later changed their surname to KIRBY, being the middle name of Emily SCHULZ (nee NEWMAN) and the maiden name her mother, Alicia KIRBY. BRADFIELD SCHOOLMISTRESS
- Bradfield
I am trying to find more details about a Dawson family of BRADFIELD. John Dawson was Christened there on the 23rd October 1808, the son of 'Larance' & Mary Dawson. I now have two Death certificates - John Dawson, a Gardener, who died in Bradfield 18th January 1839,aged 77, Mary his wife was the informant. Then there is Mary Dawson's death 19th November 1839, the informant was Elizabeth Nash 'X'. Mary is described as Schoolmistress. The early Dawson's were Gardeners, but their son John (1808) became a Coachman (something else I would like to learn more about) and moved to Hampstead, Middlesex where he married. I know there are no Dawson marriages for Bradfield but there were other births and, I assume, deaths. I would very much like to find out more about the Parish and in particular the School.
If there is anyone who can help or point me in the right direction where to obtain information I would be extremely grateful. Because of age and disability I am not able to visit Record Offices but, publications or CD's would be a great help. Thank you
