If anyone can help me find out who married William FINCH I'd really appreciate it. William was born abt. 1827 in Waltham St Lawrence. He married Jane before the 1851 Census as she appears with him on that. If anyone has any other information on William & Jane FINCH I'd appreciate that too. Jane was born at Whitchurch in Oxfordshire abt. 1826. To date I only have one child born to them, Alice FINCH, born 16 Jan 1858, also Waltham St Lawrence. If there were any other children I'd like to know who they may have been.

MONK/GREENAWAY/BATTEN - Wantage
Looking for information on James Monk, born in Hanney in 1788. Have reason to suspect he married Elizabeth Batten, daughter of Richard Batten in Wantage Feb 13, 1812. Elizabeth died in 1817 and is buried in Hanney churchyard. Also have a marriage for James Monk to Ann Greenaway in Steventon Sept 21, 1822. Was he a widower at the time of this marriage? Is this the same James? This James and Ann made their home in Grove and are found in both 1841 an 1851 census. Any help appreciated!

Further to James Monk marriage to Elizabeth Batten. Now revised to read Elizabeth Ickleton, baseborn daughter of Sarah Ickleton. Her marriage license says she is the daughter of Richard Batten as does her gravestone in the Hanney churchyard. Can find no proof of this or even a listing of any kind for Richard Batten, supposedly of Grove. Can anyone shed any light on this?

WISE / WERNAM in and around WANTAGE - Wantage
GEORGE WISE was born circa 1746 and married ANNE WERNAM 1768 in PAKENHAM SUFFOLK. I don't know where either were born but George is 'of Wantage'. They settled in SOUTH FAWLEY and had six children. Elizabeth 1770 James 1771 William 1776 George 1778 John 1781 Lucy 1784 All born in SOUTH FAWLEY and George senior was buried there in 1818. The children and the burial of George senior have all been verified. There are very few Wises in Fawley but quite a lot in surrounding villages and lots of Wernams. There are virtually no Wernams in Suffolk and so I think they could have been from Chaddleworth, the Letcombes, Harwell etc. I know one son moved to White Waltham but am having trouble finding any of the other children because they appear to have died before the 1841 census. Anyone in Wantage any contact with such a Charles Heath who married a Jane/Mary/ Mary Jane Champion from Cornwall, somewhere, most probably not Cornwall, more likely Greenwich area, probably around 1856-1857.
