The Lodge, Shinfield

The Lodge at Shinfield is an old house built in 1814, I believe. During WWII it served as the Mess for RAF Flying Training Command. From 1971 to 2002 it was the social centre of the Met Office College. Some of the additions to The Lodge look likeWorld War I, Great War, vintage buildings. Does anyone know the history of the house during the Great War? It was a private house, but did it have any special war role?

James MORRIS was baptised at Shinfield, Berkshire, England on 17.10.1762. A private in the NSW Corps(enlisted on 06.08.1789), James left England on the transport 'Surprise' on 13.11.1789 and arrived in Australia in 26.06.1790. James and Elizabeth WATTS (born circa 1774 at Dorset, England) had 6 children, all born at Sydney Cove, NSW Australia. I can share details of their descendants.
I am searching for ancestors of James and Elizabeth. The only information I have is that James' parents were James MORRIS and Jane GLOVER.

Searching for info on my great, great grandmother Harriet Maynard who was 'innkeeper' at the Black Boy, Shinfield (1851 Census). A widow, she lost her husband Richard in 1850. They had three children - George, Harriet and Richard, my great grandfather. She remarried a Henry Payne in 1853 and they had a daughter, Elizabeth.

From that period to 1940 my grandfather and father (Harry and Gilbert)ran the building and undertakers business under the name of "H.Brooker & Son".The workshop and yard were adjacant the house named "Abbeville" situated approx quarter mile West of the village centre. Information on the old "brewery" that used to exist to the North of the village would also be appreciated.

Nicky Strong, John Freemantle and Douglas and Stephen Hamilton are a few I remember. ATTWELL NEVILLE 1800 onwards

My husband is descended from John ATTWELL (born 1822 in Sonning), child of Robert and Sarah ATTWELL. John married Sarah NEVILLE there on 17/2/1849 (daughter of John and Mary NEVILLE). John ATTWELL worked as a sawyer in the town until his death in Sep qtr of 1877, whilst his widow Sarah was still living there in an almshouse on the 1901 census.
Their children were John (b1849); Ambrose (b1850) and twins Victoria Mary (aka Mary) & Albert Joseph (b1860).
This second John married Elizabeth DAWKINS (b c1850 in Bishopstone by Salisbury, Wilts) between 1871-1881 and they went on to have four children Ada Mary (b1876/7 Molsey Surrey, or Fareham Kent); John George Herbert (known as George b c1879 same places); Amy (b1881 Faversham) and Ernest James (b1883 Luddenham, Kent).
I will happily share any information with others researching any of these lines.
