WRIGHT, Isabella Martha - Reading
Isabella said she came from Reading in the 1841 and 51 English censuses. Born circa 1803. She married a Henry Kemp and moved to London where they prospered. I'd love to identify her origins! Rope Factory - Reading
Can anyone advise if there was a rope factory in Reading in the 1700/1800's, if so what were they called. My 3x Gt Grandfather was a "turner" in the 1841/1851 census for Reading St Giles.

Alfred & Emma Martha Cooper - Reading
Alfred & Emma Martha Cooper resided in Reading, Berks, in 1902. Alfred was a Steam train driver, and had an un-timely death in 1902, aged 43, leaving his Wife, Emma Martha, 38, and nine children. Names of the surviving children were Reginald, Doris, Ethel, Ella, Alfred, Frederick, Harold, Montague, Frank. According to birth certificates, they lived in St. Johns Street (1893), then moved on to Audley Street, (1902) and finally, Dorset Street (1907). Emma Martha Cooper died in 1942 Reading. Has anyone any information regarding this family, and the subsequent history of the Children. I have come to a standstill in my research, so I would love to hear from anyone who has any relevant information.....you could be my distant cousin!

Strickland Family - Photographs - Reading
William Henry Strickland was born in Peterborough 1837 to John and Mary Ann Strickland nee Pheasant. William was organist at St Mary's Church Reading from circa 1865 until his death in 1907. He was also instrumental in the formation of the Reading Philharmonic Society. His first wife was Annie Elizabeth Parnwell (4 children) and in 1868 married Ellen Thompson (5 children). I am interested in contacting anybody who may have any old family photographs which they would be willing to let me have copies of. Thanks

WH Timms - Reading
I would love to find out more on William Henry Timms, bapt. at St Lawrence's Church, Reading in Nov. 1791 to parents William and Sarah. His mother was a widow by 1832, when did her husband die? William Henry also married a Sarah (born early 1790's in Margate?), when and where? They had the following children: Charles, George, Edward, John, William, Robert and Mary, born in either Kent or London, where the family later settled. WH died in 1858, having worked as a tinter, engraver and artist, I would also love to own any of his works, or those of his sons (Charles and John were photographers).

Is there anybody tracing the Briant family who during the late 1890`s lived in the Cambridge rd area of Reading Berkshire there were Joseph Briant and his wife Harriet she died in Cambridge rd Reading Berkshire in 1894 Joseph died in 1896 in the Royal Berks Hospital they had a son Frederick who lived in Elm Park rd Reading bn abt 1868 in Reading both Joseph and Harriet were born outside Reading ie Hungerford and Sherbourne st John. Joseph worked for Huntley & Palmer as a Engine Driver.

Charles Hollingsworth Hewett 1850s- Born in Reading son of a Hat and Boot maker, also called Charles Hollingsworth Hewett. He moved to Chesham and married Sarah Reading. Some years later he abandoned the marriage and travelled the world, eventually settling back on the Isle of Wight approx 1895-1908 ish. He was my g.grandfather. Thank you.

Charles Milsom (Milson) (Millson) & Martha Bearfield - Reading
Charles was born 1800/1802 in Berkshire. Was one of the "Berkshire Machine Breakers - Captain Swing and the 1830 Riots". Married Martha Bearfield on 23 July 1827 at Aldworth Berkshire. Believe they had two children, a girl aged 3 and a boy 18 months. Trial Place: Reading, Trial Year: 1830, Sentence: 14 years, Age: 28. Transported to Australia on "Eleanor" from Portsmouth on 19 Feb 1831. Left wife and children behind. Looking for any relatives/descendants in UK.

Thomas Watkins (whatkins) bn Reading abt 1712. married Mary Kessell chr 22 Nov 1720 St Mary's Reading.Does anybody have any knowledge when \ where they were married ?? I know their son Thomas Watkins (Kessell) chr 1 Jan 1745 St Mary's Reading , married Ann May Of Wokingham , on 13 Jan 1770 at Wokingham. THE DEARLOVE AND SMITH FAMILIES - Reading
I am looking for anyone who has knowledge of the family Dearlove who resided in Bedford St and Lavender St (Place) around 1865/75. My GG Grandfather was George Dearlove (B:1822 in Hants) and was a soldier in the 13th Light Dragoons in the Crimea and one of the 'Charge of the Light Brigade' who survived. He had many medals including French Military Medal and is mentioned/photographed at that time. His daughter Isabella Matilda married Benjamin Smith and they were my G Grandparents. Their son William Claydon Smith a Painter and Decorator of Amity Road had a Grandfather of same name who was a furniture remover and had worked for Queen Victoria. All from Reading. I, my Mother, Grandmother and Uncle went to George Palmer School and lived in Surrey Road until 1951.

I am looking for relatives of Captain Alexander David Mackintosh and his wife Eva. She was from the Caversham, Reading area. Alexander was the son of David and Christina Mackintosh of Inverness. I am looking for any info or descendants on the MINES family. My 4 x gt g'father was a John Mines, born 'Berkshire' per 1841 census when family living Remenham. My 3 x gt g'mother was the daughter of John and his wife Mary. Her name was Eliza MINES born ca 1819 and married to Charles REED or READ in the Parish Church, Remenham in 1842. John and Mary's other children per 1841 census were James (c.1824) and Susanah (c.1825). Eliza and Charles REED (or READ) moved to Reading, where my 2xgt g'mother Caroline REEAD or READ was born around 1849. I can't seem to find John Mines or James and Susanah on later census records, though a Susan Mines married in Reading in 1846 so could be same person. Are there any MINES family still in the area?
