Leach Beenham, Buckleberry and Midgham, Berkshire
- Reading
I am trying to locate the family of Thomas LEACH who we believe was born in Beenham, Berkshire in 1787. His parents were Henry and Sarah LEACH, possibly nee ROBINS - and Thomas was one of a large family of children; between 10 and 12 in all, although not all survived infancy. Thomas 1787, Sarah 1791, Elizabeth 1792, Lucy 1795, Henry 1797, John 1799, Catherine 1802, Jeremiah 1803, James 1805, Lucy 1808, William 1809, Hannah 1811, Lucy 1812.
Thomas became a gardener and some oral history says he worked on Windsor Castle Estate before moving to Brighton, Sussex and Scottish origins - Aberdeenshire - was also passed down in both Thomas' and John's lines.
Thomas moved sometime before 1819, when he married Ann HEMSLEY, from near Brighton. Thomas remained in Brighton, dying there in 1861; and two of his brothers also moved to Sussex. John (born 1799) was also a gardener and he married a local girl too; and later settled in Hurstpierpoint, where he died in 1857. James (born 1805) was another gardener and was in Brighton by 1841, his wife, Martha, was born in Stoke, Buckinghamshire and their oldest child, Charlotte was born about 1831/2, in Brighton. I think James died before the 1861 census, Martha is recorded as a widow - but I cannot find any reference to his death in any of teh England and Wales BMD records, using FreeBMD.
Sarah LEACH nee ROBINS, probable mother of Thomas, John and James, was from Midgham and we think she was buried there in 1852 but this isn't confirmed. Thomas LEACH snr died 23rd May 1846, in Beenham.
Anything re this family would be very gratefully received. I have to thank 2 cousins for a lot of the foregoing information as I had made the link to Beenham, Berkshire and the possible relationship between the 3 men who moved to Sussex - but that was as far as I got, on my own, regarding the Berkshire heritage. I do have more about the later history in Brighton and would be very gald to share anything I have.

Wigmore, Bullock, Hinton
- Reading
Richard Wigmore married Elizabeth Bullock in Windsor, Berkshire although the started married life, I believe, in Bucklebury, Berkshire. They then moved on to Reading where they remained until they died - Richard in the early 1900s. It's Elizabeth I'm having the problem with. I know Richard remarried in 1874 and his last child with Elizabeth Bullock was born in 1861 (I'm assuming that Elizabeth was the mother of this child). I can't find a death entry for Elizabeth between 1861 and 1874 neither have I had any luck finding her birth. Is anyone else researching this line, please.

Looking for ANY information regarding a Mary Ladrigan. She came from Tipperary and married a British Army officer, his surname was Rowe, but his christian name is not known.
The couple had at least four children. My grandmother Mary was one of them, but she was orphaned at the age of 8 (c 1927) and raised in Dundalk. She had very little information about her parents, and it's proving difficult to find information about either of them.

Thompsons of Reading -- Robert, Thomas and Peter
- Reading
My great-grandfather, Robert Ernest Thompson, came to Canada btwn 1898-1902 where he settled. He was born on Zinzan St in Reading in 1877. His parents were Thomas (a grocer) and Hannah (nee Gill, b. 1841 London) Thompson -- both died when the children were young and apparently the children were put in an orphanage. The parents had purchased a family burial plot in Reading but only they are buried there. Their other children (Robert's siblings) were: Thomas Arthur (b. 1864), Alfred Edward (b.1866), Annie Elizabeth (b. 1868), Hannah E. (b. 1869), Alice Mary (b. 1870), Frederick George (b. 1871), Helena Lousia (b. 1872), William (b. 1873), Charles Edwin (b. 1875), Henry Albert (b. 1876), and Walter Andrew (b. 1878).
Thomas' father was Peter Thompson (a chessemonger), b. abt. 1807. I suspect his mother was Sarah, b. Devzies, Wiltshire about 1805.
I would love to connect with any cousins out there to share info. If you have info on Peter and his ancestors I would very much appreciate having it. Also, should anyone have a pic of the family grave in Reading I would appreciate seeing it.
Thank you.
Liza, Canada
