Henry James born 1840
- Abingdon
I am researching Henry James born in St Helen's Abingdon on 14 September 1840. His father was Richard James (a stonemason) born 1801 and his mother was Elizabeth born 1791. He had two brothers Richard and William and one sister Sarah. I think he married twice - the first time to Emma in Abingdon and the second to Priscilla Jane in Bampton - but I cannot confirm this. He had two children by Priscilla - a son Henry James Johnson and a daughter Sarah James. I would be grateful for any information.

Hays Family Butcher/farmer
- Abingdon
Would like to hear from anyone who has connections or information regarding the Hays family in Abingdon.Albert Hays was a butcher and had a business in Abingdon centre in and around 1911.I also remember my father taking me to visit 'Peter' at a farm near Abingdon way back in 1950s.That is all I remember, I am uncertain whether this is conncted with the Hays family.
My grandmother was Edith Hays (one of Albert's daughters).and my father's mother.
This side of our family is very sparse and I am trying to piece odd bits of information and memory together.I am hoping that descendants of my grandmother still live in the Abingdon area and might read this and get in touch.
Thank you, Richard.

Winifred Maud and Rose EDWARDS
- Arborfield
I am hoping to find out what became of sisters Winifred Maud and Rose Edwards who were born in the Arborfield area. Their parents were Thomas Edwards and Clara Langford, who were married in the Bradfield area in 1911.
Winifred Maud was born in 1912 and baptised on 18 February 1912 at St. Bartholomew's church, Arborfield. Rose was born the following year and was baptised on 17 August 1913.
Sadly, Clara Edwards died shortly after Rose was born.
On the 1920 Arborfield Electoral Register, Thomas Edwards (who I assume is the same person) appears with Annie Edwards (second wife?) living "near the Chapel". I found a marriage for a Thomas Edwards and Annie Bennett in the Basingstoke area in 1915.
There was also a child, Gladys M Edwards, born in 1919, but she died in 1921 aged 21 months, and is buried at St. Bartholomew's.
Thomas and Annie appear on the 1928 Arborfield Electoral Register also, but then disappear from the area.
Does anyone know what became of this family, particularly the sisters Winifred and Rose?
Any information would be very gratefully received.
Thanks.
