Palmer, chairmaker - Newbury
William Palmer & Sarah Pinnich, both born in Newbury, married in 1811 & had 12 children, baptised at the Lower Meeting House or North Croft Lane Baptist. He was a chairmaker & upholsterer. Their 6th child Jane married William John Myall at St.Mary Newington, Surrey in 1847. I have her picture at her grand-daughter's wedding.

Robinson - Newbury
After a long search I have found my great uncles retired from Winterbourne to Newbury. George Robinson, retiree from the Army died on the 3rd March 1942. On his death certificate his daughter G.M. Brooks who lived on "Hampridge Farm"? near Newbury. I believe this lady's name to be Gwendoline Muriel.Also Frank Robinson who died on the 13th August 1950 and who lived at 56 Kiln Road Newbury with his son E.W. Robinson whose name I believe to be Edward William . I would very much to make contact with any family of these two men.

The address on my father's birth certificate in 1906 is 8 Pelican Terrace, Speenhamland, Newbury. On a recent visit to Pelican Lane Newbury I was unable to find this address which should be next door to the Old Police Station, which is in the process of redeveloping into flats. Obviously Pelican terrace has been demolished - could anyone tell me how long it has been missing from Pelican Lane?

Searching for the family of Margaret Thorn who was born in Newbury, Berks, 1842. Her father was either George Edward Thorn, or Edmund George Thorn. Her mother was either, Margaret Hay, or Elizabeth Hall. She married Thomas White from Hartley Row, Odiham. They raised their eight children in Croydon, Surrey. Pig Market - Newbury
In the 1871 census a relative of mine was registered as being a Lodger at Pig Market, 26 Cheap St, Newbury. The head of the household, Richard Goddard, was a Publican so I assume that this was an inn of some sort. I can find no record of it, so would be interested if anyone has any information.

He was my grandad and married my gran (Jean SCAPLEHORN) in 1956 (could be year in year out)They had 3 children Dorothy, Peter and Glenis. He passed away in Dec 1962 and she re-married later with the name Jean CUDDIHY and had another 3 children. I know he had a sister who lives I belive in Newbury still. Not sure of her name. Thomas Potter - Newbury
Thomas was born 1875 at Brail Farm, Great Bedwyn. In 1891 he was living with his parents William and Elizabeth in Kintbury. Thomas had worked as a farm boy but due to illhealth he later took a job as a grocery assistant in Newbury. I cannot find him on the 1901 census. His parents were living at Clapton Cottage, Kintbury. He married Ada Brittain in 1906 - my father is the third of their children but knows little of his fathers past. Does anyone have any information as to the whereabouts of Thomas in 1901.
