"Monkendens" was situated at 151 High St Maidenhead, where I'm told its roof had a landmark copper dome or "cuppola". On that land stands a mere supermarket, I am told! Dr SA Plumbe served the area (partly in a joint practice with a Dr Montgomery) from about 1863 till his death in 1876. His son Dr ST Plumbe took over and must have made his mark till his own early demise in 1909. About 1910 the house-contents were sold,and we have the Auction catalogue. We think the site was cleared at that time. Any details known?

Percival was born in Maidenhead and was a blacksmith not much is known about him as he left when my grandfather was a young child and all records of him were destroyed it is believed he went back to England to join the British Regiment. Ellen was born in Windsor and worked as a Scullery Maid at age 13 within Windsor Castle. They immigrated to Canada on the Empress of Ireland in 1908. Believed that John Arthur Whitmore emmigrated to the Dominions in about 1911 and fought in World War I in a Dominion Regiment.
