Greenaways of East Hendred - (East Hendred - Berkshire)
I'm descended from Thomas Greenaway (Steventon, Berkshire; born about 1700, wife: Anne?); son Benjamin (Steventon, Berk., about 1730, wife: Mary Brooks); son Joseph (Steventon, Berk., about 1764, wife: Ann Phillips); and his son James (East Hendred, Berk., about 1810). James was married to Susannah/Susanna Cue in East Hendred, Berk., in 1830. They moved to Canada with their children (Woodstock, Ontario area). I found a Canadian record listing James' wife as "Susan", with children Wellington, Ann, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Harrieth. Eventually, James married Christina McKay (what happened to Susannah?). James and Christina had Joseph, Hector, and John (Jack) (my grandfather), and others. John (born: 1860, died: 1946-7) was estranged from his family; my mother has very little family history to pass on. My information comes from the internet as well as a descendant of the James/Susannah union. John was also married to a Tracey Casey in Ontario in 1882; any children? Not 100% sure of all my info; does anyone have anything to share? Any "relatives" out there?

Vicar of East Hendred - (East Hendred - Berkshire)
I think my great-great grandfather may have been a curate or vicar of the church in East Hendred in the mid 1800s. My great-grandmother was called Sarah and was born in the village in about 1866. Unfortunately, this is all I have to go on. Sarah married William Bates, son of Philip Bates, who seems to have lived in Fenny Stratford/Newport Pagnell and worked on the railway. Sarah's family considered that she had married beneath her and had little more to do with her. She lived well into her 90s and died in and old folks' home in Winslow. Does anyone have any information, please?
