Hicks - Abingdon, Drayton
- Abingdon
Looking for information on the parents and siblings of William Hicks, b. abt. 1819 in Drayton, parish of Abingdon (which is listed as Oxfordshire in the 1871 census). William married Hannah (maiden name unknown), b. abt. 1823 in Drayton. They had at least 8 children, all born in Drayton (birth years are based on subtracting their ages in the census from 1871 - Thomas, 1845; Ann, 1847; John, 1849; Sarah, 1851; William, 1853; James, 1860; Albert, 1863; and Charles, 1865). James later married Emma of Brixton, London, b. 1863, and they had at least 4 children. One was Albert E. Hicks, b. 1892, who died in WW I and whose name is inscribed on a memorial outside St. Mary's parich church in Upton Cum Chalvey, Slough, Buckinghamshire.
My great grandparents, Harry Hicks and Eliza Scott, were married at St. Mary's in 1880. I am trying to determine if Harry is related to the Hicks listed above. Harry's grandfather was named Solomon. There was a Solomon John Hicks who died in Abingdon in 1855.
Thanks for your help.
