Thomas and Katherine Bates of Heath
- Heath and Reach
Before Heath was separate from Leighton Buzzard, my ancestor Thomas Bates was married in 1748 to a widow, Katherine Munday, whose husband John had died in 1746. Both of these families in the Leighton Buzzard parish records were "of Heath". Thomas and Katherine had a daughter Elizabeth in 1750 and Thomas died in 1755. Then Katherine married Joseph Pemington or Pennington in 1758. Her daughter Elizabeth Bates married Richard Tavener in Eaton Bray in 1770 and Katherine died in Eaton Bray in 1773 and was buried as Catherine Pemberton. Would like to find Katherine's first marriage for her maiden name and identify Thomas Bates. I suspect he is from Ivinghoe, but it is just a guess. Katherine had at least two Munday children in 1740 & 1742.

Valentine Family of Houghton Conquest
- Houghton Conquest
Looking for origins of RICHARD VALENTINE. Was he from a neighbouring parish. Looking for origins and death for JOHN YOXON. See details below:
RICHARD VALENTINE was born probably at Bedfordshire, England and died at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England May 1776 (bur. 19 May). He married at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England 7 February 1743 ELIZABETH BROWN, who died in childbirth at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England about 30 May 1750 (bur. 31 May). He married second at Ampthill, Bedfordshire, England 12 October 1750 ANN CASBURD, who died at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England May 1776 (bur. 30 May). He maintained while being married a third relationship with ANN HOLLOWAY, daughter of William and Rachel Holloway, who was born at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England about August 1729, was baptized Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England 8 September 1729, and died at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England March 1768 (bur. 30 Mar.). He maintained while being married a fourth relationship as her second with PHEBE RICHARDSON YOXON, daughter of Robert and Sarah (Claridge) Richardson, who was born at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England about September 1735, was baptized at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England 5 October 1735, and died at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England January 1792 (bur 18 Jan.). Phebe Richardson married at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, England 4 December 1757 JOHN YOXON, who was from Amphill, Bedforshire, England.
Richard Valentine and Elizabeth Brown had their first two children before they married followed by five more in wedlock. The birth record in the Anglican parish registers of Houghton Conquest for Joseph Valentine clearly states that Joseph was the ‘natural son of Richard Valentine, married man, by Ann Holloway, single woman’. The birth and baptismal records of the other children that Richard Valentine had with Ann Holloway and later Phebe Richardson Yoxon do not state the marital status of the parents although refer to the children as natural born sons or in two cases as bastard sons. There does not appear to have been any children from the marriage of Richard Valentine and Ann Casburd; no births were recorded in either Ampthill or Houghton Conquest.
