Cardington/Carrington
- Bedford
Im am trying to locate information on William Merrill. William was a sergeant major in the 16th regiment of foot and served in India. He died in the Royal Hospital Chelsea 1897. I have found info pertaining to his stay in the hospital which states he was born in Cardington Bed.From the records from the Fencible Villiage here in NZ, it stated that William was born 1802 circa Carrington Bed, at first I thought this was a typo, but then found a possible military record, which also stated born Carrington. All records state that William was born in Bedfordshire. Is there or was there such a place called Carrington ?, I have not been able to locate it in Bedfordshire on any maps Ive looked at, old or new. I do have other info on this family line, and some unproven family lines researcher by another person, for more info just ask.
