Freeman - Stotfold
Edward Freeman lived in Stotfold and Caldecote in late 1500s early 1600s. Had 6 or 7 sons - one was a cleric at Cambridge, another, John, became haberdasher in London. His son Samuel emigrated to Massachusetts in 1630. Would like to share information on the family.

My grandfather (Hubert John HILLIER, born c.1884) came from the Luton area. The 1901 census has a HILLIER family at Valley Farm Farm House, consisting of George HILLIER (52)farmer, Matilda (nee Whitman,42) wife, and their children William Arthur (20), Gertrude Louisa (18) and Albert George (16). I am wondering if this family has any connection with my grandfather and would be pleased at contact from anyone with information on this family or from any descendants.

Does anyone have information regarding this MEDLOCK / JAKES connection? Alexander MEDLOCK married Mary JAKES in 1745 in Sutton which is in the hundred of Biggleswade (they were both born 1724 in Sutton). Mary died in 1764 & Alexander remarried in 1766 - 2nd wife Elizabeth ASHWELL. Alexander died in 1793 aged 69 in Great Staughton, Huntingdonshire. John & Alice Atkins had 9 children all born Swineshead, Hunts: Mary& Rose, twins b/d 1724, John born 1726, Alice born 1727, William b 1729/d 1732, Mary b1730/d1733, Rachel 1732, Thomas 1734 & Mark b/d 1734. John Atkins born 1726 was my great x5 grandfather. He married Mary (surname unknown) and they had 8 children, all baptised Swineshead: William 1754, Mark 1756, Mary 1758, Hannah 1760, Alice 1762, Dinah 1764, Henry 1768 & James 1771. Mark born 1756 was my great x 4 grandfather. He married Elizabeth Knowles in 1792 Ramsey. Mark & Elizabeth had 6 children:Elizabeth born 1797, Mary 1799, Mark 1803, Henry 1805, Elizabeth 1807, & Lisha 1810. Henry born 1805 was my great x 3 grandfather and he married Elizabeth Burgess in 1833 in March, Cambs. Henry & Elizabeth Atkins had 8 children, Joseph 1833, Phoebe1836, Elizabeth 1836, Mary 1838, James 1839, Emma 1841, William 1844 & Sarah 1847. Mary born 1838 was my Great x 2 Grandmother and she married John Willey in 1859 and they had 4 children: If any of these names are familiar to you, please contact me.

Does anyone know anything of it's history and whether it is called that because of a geographical stone bridge or a person Stonebridge.My Stonebridge ancestors lived in Tempsford from about 1790 till about 1875. Looking for any links to Bone Family from Tempsford. My Grt Grandmother was Sarah Bone Brn 1898 4 Stamford Road, Essendine, Rutland, but her Father was Samuel Bone Brn 1861 in Tempsford. His Parents Were James Bone 1822 and Sarah Browning 1821 both born in Tempsford they had 11 Children inc Samuel. James Bones parents were John Bone 1796 and Elizabeth ? William and Mary Gray and their children, William, Emma, Maryann and John, migrated to Sydney from Bedfordshire in 1849, probably from Toddington or Harlington. Mary died in Sydney in 1850. William married Jemimah Richards (probably from Wales) and they moved to Melbourne about 1853. Their children included Caroline, Kezia, Benjamin and Arthur. William was a brickmaker and active in the Coburg area of Melbourne until his death in 1876. Any information on their English forebears or Australian descendants would be welcome.
